Elementary School

Elementary Chapel & AR Points

Elementary students enjoyed having several of our high school Student Council members in chapel on Thursday. Burch Langstaff and Nathan Roberts spoke to the students about how to be a “light” to others. The Student Council gave all of the elementary students glow sticks, and the lights were turned out to demonstrate how a small light can make a big difference, which elementary students loved.

All of the students shared about their favorite part of being on Student Council. These students are involved in numerous projects within the school and community and their desire is to spiritually impact our school. Thanks to Nathaniel Sancinito (Student Council Chaplain), Landon Davidson (10th Grade Chaplain), Ally Flynt (8th Grade Chaplain), Conner Mathis (7thGrade Chaplain), Burch (Vice President) and Nathan (9th Grade Chaplain) for taking the time to lead our chapel.

Alpha Pregnancy Center Project

First grade had a Happy Birthday Jesus Celebration before going on Christmas break. In honor of Jesus’ birthday, first grade collected items for new moms and their babies. All the items we collected went to the Alpha Pregnancy Center. We were so blown away by the support we received for this special event! Mrs. Sheets even came and spoke to the students about how their items will help at the Alpha Pregnancy Center.

Ministry Morning at Phoebe Senior Living Center

The second graders at SCA took the Good News through the Christmas story to the Phoebe Senior Living Center on Beattie Road. During their program, they sang praise songs and recited Bible verses to all in attendance. They finished their visit by singing Christmas carols and handing each resident a hand-made Christmas ornament.

The students did a wonderful job sharing the Gospel and the message of hope with the residents. What a blessing to see our students put hands and feet to their faith and share it with others this Christmas season! Good job, second graders!

Veterans’ Day Program

SCA hosted its 15th annual Veteran’s Day program at Sherwood Baptist Church. We were blessed to have many veterans in attendance today.

The program included different student groups including the elementary students, a 5th grade ensemble, and the middle school choir singing patriotic songs and other pieces to honor our veterans. Of course, we enjoyed our kindergarteners presenting Grand Old Flag and America the Beautiful for us.

Lastly, we honored our service men and women with a solemn flag folding ceremony and the reading of a list of local fallen heroes. We were delighted to have special guest Bishop Ingram who eloquently whistled God Bless America for us. It was truly a blessed day.

May we all be grateful for the service of many veterans and active duty personnel for the freedoms that we enjoy. Be sure to thank a veteran today for his/her service to our country.

U.S. 3D Maps

Mrs. Wise’s fourth grade classes are busy making 3D maps of the United States. These students spend a lot of time studying our rich American heritage. This project will explore some of the geographical features that God has given our country. Phase 1 was building a salt dough map. Eventually students will paint and label the major mountain ranges, rivers and other features that our history book teaches. They look forward to displaying these when they are completed.

Our fourth grade students will be reciting “The American’s Creed” next Friday, November 10, during our annual Veteran’s Day Program at Sherwood Baptist Church at 8:30 a.m.
