Sherwood Cup

If a visitor came to our school on Friday, March 27 this year, they would be surprised to see war paint, crazy colored t-shirts and classrooms filled with yells of students cheering on their classmates. On this day, Sherwood Christian Academy’s grades fought hard for the coveted trophy declaring the best grade on campus. It is called Sherwood Cup.

Every year, different events pop up, which makes every Sherwood Cup different in some fashion. These events include things like geography bowl, chess and eating contests to soccer, flag football and sock war. It is a relaxed day when teachers and students get to cut loose and have fun without being in a classroom setting. However, at the end of the day it was all about the trophy. In the middle school, the seventh grade won, which was a great surprise. They are the only grade in Sherwood history to win two years in a row and the only grade to ever win their sixth grade year. For the high school, it was no shock when the class of 2015 walked away with the trophy, winning it all their final year. As a senior, I have participated in seven Sherwood Cups, and each year they get better and better. Some of my favorite high school memories come from this day because it made us pursue teamwork together, ultimately making my senior class an even tighter family.
