Volleyball Season Celebration

The middle school, junior varsity, and varsity volleyball teams held an end-of-the-season celebration on Saturday hosted by Coaches Fyock, Mallery, and O’Connor. After a nice potluck dinner, the program highlighted both the group and individual accomplishments of each team. One outstanding accomplishment of the entire program–22 out of 26 players were Scholar Athletes this fall. Nice job girls! With only two seniors who will graduate, the future of the program looks very promising!

Community Service Days

On October 6 and October 13, the middle school and high school conducted community service days to serve our community and be a blessing. It was a privilege to partner with LaDonna Urick and Mission Change as well as Judy Bowles of Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful. Their partnership is valuable in making these days effective and productive for our students.

We are pleased to continue to strengthen the pillar of community service in our students. Special thanks go out to Campus Pastor Jeremy Davidson and our faculty members for organizing and assisting with these days for us.

ReFresh @ SCA

This morning, we began ReFresh @ SCA. This week is a special time of renewal each fall for our secondary students. Our guest speaker is church planter, Pastor Ryan Rice, from Connect Church in Algiers, LA (New Orleans). Pastor Ryan will be sharing in 1 John. His emphasis is assurance of salvation for the believer – there is nothing greater than knowing you are a child of God. But for the unsaved, do you want to be a part of God’s family? If so, you need to make a decision of commitment. Benefits and rewards are awaiting you when you make the decision to follow Christ wholeheartedly. Please pray for Pastor Ryan and his time with our students this week.

7th-8th Grade Class Retreat

The 7th and 8th Grade Retreat took place on Tuesday, August 29, at Legacy Park. The classes had a chance to grow closer together through team-building exercises led by Campus Pastor Jeremy Davidson. After enjoying a Chick-fil-A lunch at the pavilion, the 8th graders enjoyed swimming at Jonathan Thomas’ house; the 7th graders at Ally Flynt’s house. Thanks to Coach Davidson, the class sponsors, and the Thomases and Flynts for helping make the day special!

Class Retreats

Class retreats are a unique opportunity we have developed at SCA to try and build relational bridges throughout our school. We take a day away from the classroom at the beginning of the school year and allow the students to compete in a variety of team building games, activities and challenges. All of these challenges are designed to force students out of their comfort zones as they creatively compete with other groups of students all across their grade level and beyond. It is our prayer that these retreats would grow Christ-honoring relationships, build unity throughout our school, and generate passion and excitement for being an SCA Eagle this school year!
