I Believe That We Just Won

On Friday, November 21st, the Eagles took on the Calvary Christian Academy Knights for the inaugural GICAA Division 1-AA State Championship title. There was a record crowd in attendance to watch the Eagles play for their first state championship. The Eagles held off the Knights 21-13 in the 4th quarter to take home the trophy.

The team’s record at the end of the season was 11-1. It was an honor to be a part of the inaugural season of the GICAA, a conference where sportsmanship and character rise above competition.

We Are Going To the ‘Ship

The inaugural season of the GICAA has been a great season for the Eagles. With a different schedule from previous seasons, the Eagles walked on to the field of competition not knowing what to expect from their opponents. Barring one loss, the Eagles walked off the field of competition the victors. With a record of 10-1 and for the first time in school history, the Eagles are headed to play for a football state championship on their home field on Friday, Nov. 21.

The excitement will begin with a pep rally on Friday for the team at the upper campus beginning at 11:20 a.m. and lasting until school releases at 12 p.m. Parents are invited to come support their athlete as they get fired up for the game that evening.

Pre-game activities begin at 7:10 p.m. with a spirit line as the boys run out of the locker room. Be there early to show your support for the Eagles! Let’s cheer them on from the beginning.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. when Sherwood takes on Calvary Christian. You won’t want to miss it.

Also, bring a blanket, scarf, jacket, gloves or anything to keep you warm….it’s supposed to be chilly.

But in the off chance you cannot make it to the game, we are live streaming it so you can watch at home! Just click this link and it will take you to the game. http://new.livestream.com/accounts/409174/events/3597237

GICAA State Cross Country Meet

On the cold blustery Saturday morning of November 1, the Sherwood Christian Academy Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams ran in the GICAA State Cross Country Meet at the Industrial Children’s Home in Macon. The team included a group of seven boys and four girls running a 5K race against teams from Covenant, Westminister, Praise Academy, Central Fellowship and Skipstone.

Samantha Pappas won the girls race while Joshua Kendrick finished fifth and Ryan Canidate finished eighth in the boys race. The guys finished runner-up in state to Covenant Academy and ahead of Westminister, Central Fellowship, and Praise Academy. Great way to finish the season Eagles!!!

Sherwood has two All-State runners, Joshua Kendrick and Samantha Pappas, and almost had three as Ryan Canidate finished in 8th place just one spot short of making the All-State Team. So proud of everyone’s efforts this year, great way to finish the season Eagles!!!

The team was coached by Coach Mark Meager and Coach Lakisha Elder. Thank you both for your efforts and sacrifice to teach these athletes how to compete with excellence while honoring the Lord with their talents.
